Independent Students' Alliance Unveils Full Panel for CUCSU Election

The 'Independent Students' Alliance' has officially announced its complete panel of candidates for the upcoming Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) election. The panel is entering the race with a core pledge to practice non-partisan politics, protect student rights, and foster a more student-friendly campus.

Abir Bin Jabed has been nominated for the Vice President (VP) post, with Chowdhury Tasneem Jahan Srabon contesting for General Secretary (GS) and Palash Dey for Assistant General Secretary (AGS).

The alliance has fielded a comprehensive panel for the election, including Tamanna Mahbub Priti for Assistant Sports Secretary, Rana Kanti Dash for Literary Secretary, and Papri Akter Maya for Female Students' Welfare Secretary. The panel also includes candidates for other key posts, such as Sheikh Hamim for Science & Information Secretary, Abdullah Al Kayes for Research & Innovation Secretary, and Arifus Sakib Jamim for Career Development Secretary.

The leaders stated during the announcement that their work will be guided by an independent, service-oriented political philosophy, with a focus on improving campus security, health services, research opportunities, cultural activities, and career development for students.

Speaking to CtgPost, VP candidate Abir Bin Jabed said, "Our alliance is comprised of student leaders from various organizations and religions, including a visually impaired student. As students, we have a vision for the kind of university we want, and as student leaders, we are committed to ensuring that our political environment reflects that vision."

GS candidate Chowdhury Tasneem Jahan Srabon also spoke to CtgPost, acknowledging the challenges ahead. "It is a pipe dream to think that all of the university's problems can be solved in one year, especially given the student union's limited authority," she said. "Accepting this reality, we want to ensure we are always active in meeting the fundamental demands of students. We will work to curb the unwarranted exercise of power by partisan groups and build a better campus."

University students believe that the formation of this independent panel adds a new dimension to the upcoming election, offering a distinct alternative to the established student political wings.
