A student from Rajshahi University, Iftekharul Islam Famin, has died in a tragic road accident. The incident occurred Tuesday night near the university's Binodpur market area.
Famin, a student of the 2019-20 batch in the English Department, was riding on a motorcycle around 11 PM on the Dhaka-Rajshahi highway. Eyewitnesses said the motorcycle collided with an autorickshaw that suddenly made a U-turn. The impact threw Famin from the motorcycle, and he sustained a fatal head injury.
A fellow student, Sufian Sifat, from the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, described the scene, saying the motorcycle was traveling at a normal speed when the autorickshaw abruptly pulled in front of it, leaving no time to brake. Famin was reportedly flung about 10 meters, and blood began to pour from his head.
He was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. According to an autorickshaw driver named Shofiqul Islam, the autorickshaw driver's error was entirely to blame for the crash.
The university's proctor, Professor Mahbubur Rahman, confirmed the student's death and stated that Famin's body is at the hospital morgue and his family has been contacted.
