A man and his son died while bathing together at the Kolatoli-Simon Beach Point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Monday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Shahinur Rahman, 60, and his son Sifat, 20. They came from Rajshahi to visit Cox’s Bazar.
The incident happened around 2pm, confirmed Additional Superintendent of Police and Cox’s Bazar district police spokesperson Md Jashim Uddin Chowdhury.
According to Saifullah Sifat, senior member of Sea Safe Lifeguard team, the father and son were swept away while bathing. Lifeguards noticed them and quickly rescued the duo before rushing them to the hospital.
Both of them reportedly vomited blood excessively after reaching the hospital. Later, doctors declared them dead.
The bodies have been kept at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue, said ASP Jashim.
